Betty Jane Humphrey

Betty Jane Humphrey (Stage), age 87, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, went home to be with her Jesus, on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at The James Cancer Hospital. She was born October 29, 1935, to the late Dewey and Mabel Stage.

Betty and Robert Eugene Humphrey, married November 30, 1956, at the Mount Sterling Church of the Nazarene. She worked at the National Glove Factory for 19 years, and then at Orient MRDD until she retired.

Betty had a gift of hospitality and many feet under her table. She enjoyed life and her faith in Jesus, and her church was her life. She was always asking, “Do you know Jesus?” or “Do you have a Church home?” She was a great pillar of the Church of the Nazarene. Betty always loved meeting new people in her church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher at the Mount Sterling Nazarene Church. Betty was the Soprano in the church trio with her sister Darlene Brust, and Mrs. Florence McNeely. She was a strong prayer warrior for her family, church, and community.

Betty is preceded in death by parents, Dewey and Mabel stage; her loving husband of 54 years, Robert Eugene Humphrey; brothers, Dewey Stage, Jr., and Robert Stage; sister, Darlene Brust; and granddaughter, Baby Riffle.

She is survived by her children, Cristina Ward, and Lisa (Mike) Keener; grandchildren, Stephanie (Joshua) Mund, David (Ashley) Riffle, Stacy (Kevin) Daniels, Sara Keener, Tara Keener, and Holly Keener; great-grandchildren, Ella Mund, Tenley Mund, Keegan Riffle, Marlee Riffle, Nolan Daniels, and Aalynn Daniels; sister, Sharon (Butch) Rhymer; and many other nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

The family will welcome friends from 5-7 PM on WEDNESDAY, March 8, 2023, at the MOUNT STERLING NAZARENE CHURCH, 226 N Market Street, Mount Sterling, Ohio, 43143. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on THURSDAY, March 9, 2023, at the MOUNT STERLING NAZARENE CHURCH, with Pastor Phil Starr and Rev Ron Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio.

Betty’s favorite scripture was Romans 8:28, please read it in her memory.
