Carl Richard “Dick” Sheets, 87, of Harrisburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, with his family lovingly by his side. Born on December 25, 1935, to the late Annie and Paul Sheets.
Preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Harold Chapin, mother-in-law, Peggy Chapin, brother-in-law, James Chapin and sister in-law, Jeanne Sheets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Sheets of 60 years, and their son, Richard (Sommer) Sheets, granddaughter, Madison Lee, brother, Lynn Sheets, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Chapin, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He served in the US Army from 1959-1961, Corporal Reserve, where he served next to his best friend Bobby (Sissy) Dotson. He retired from Orient Correctional Center and then later retired from Chemical Abstracts. He was a member of Mount Sterling Blue Lodge 269, 32nd Degree Freemason and Shriners.
Dick also coached Harrisburg Little League and Pony League. He was a huge fan of basketball, baseball, softball, horse shoes, volleyball, and of course his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, and the one and only Woody Hayes. He attended Harrisburg United Methodist Church.

The family will welcome family and friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 10-12 with funeral services starting at noon at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, located at 331 Main Street, Mount Sterling, Ohio 43143. Burial Service will follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Harrisburg United Methodist Church or Bella Care Hospice.
Though we mourn the loss of this great man, we also celebrate a life well-lived, and the profound impact Dick had on each of us. His spirit will forever be etched in the hearts he has touched.
