Edward Summers, age 88, formerly of New Holland, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Courthouse Manor. He was born June 3, 1928 in Ecorse, Michigan. He was the son of Thomas E. and Sallie (Jones) Summers.
Ed enjoyed flying airplanes and working, especially roofing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lucille Summers (12/06/2005) and siblings Maxine, Ethel, Alden and Lou.
Survived by sons Ronald (Dale) Summers of New Holland, Terry Summers of Chillicothe, Mark Summers of Galloway, daughter Sharon (Jim) Day of Leesburg, Florida; 6 grandchildren Cricket Miller, Mandy Canterbury, Shawna Summers, Jamie Schlernitzauer, Jennifer Day, and Cassandra Summers; 9 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Paul Jones officiating with the interment following in New Holland Cemetery. A military service will be performed at the graveside for the World War II Navy veteran. Family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service beginning at 11:00 am.
