Eldon Stires

Eldon E. Stires age 79 of Mt. Sterling, died April 17, 2014 at his residence.  He was born July 14, 1934 in Pickaway County, Ohio.  The son of Thomas and Mabel (Riley) Stires.

He was retired from 35 years at Westinghouse; member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Union #476); employed by Pleasant Township for 14 years; an avid fisherman and hunter.

Preceded in death by parents; brothers Willis, William, Robert, Pearl, Ronald, & Seymour Lee; sister Mary Lou (Stires) Ladley; and granddaughter DeAnn DeBois.

Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet; sons Terry (Kim) Stires, Tim (Dee) Stires; daughters Lane (Walter) Freeman, Donna (Bruce) Samons; 9 grandchildren, Joseph & Wesley Samons, David, Ashley, Cheyenne Stires, Michael, Amanda, Tara, and Kristen Stires; 11 great-grandchildren;  numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling.  Rev. Dortha Ross officiating with the interment following in Waterloo Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m.
