Evelyn M. Rice

Evelyn Marie Rice (88) passed away in Washington Court House, OH on November 16, 2024. She was born in Mt. Sterling, Ohio on February 15, 1936 to Robert O. and Marjorie (Swyers) Henry. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Rice; her sister, Carolyn Russell; and her brothers, Bob Henry, Maynard Henry, Jim Henry and Alvie Henry. She is survived by her brother in laws, Walter (Patty) Rice and Gordon Russell; her sister in laws, Beverly Henry and Anna Marie Henry; her nieces, Deanna (Shawn) Stevens and Lisa Delong, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn loved to work to the point of being a workaholic. She was a dispatcher at Mt. Sterling Police Department. She also worked for the Mt. Sterling Sunoco Convenience Store as a cashier. She loved work, but loved people, being around people and talking with them. She was truly an angel walking among us.

The family will receive friends for a funeral service for Evelyn at the Porter Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St. in Mt. Sterling, OH on Friday, November 22. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm and a service will follow at 1:00 pm., Pastor Michael Cottle officiating. After the service, Evelyn will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling.
