Grover H. Powell, Sr.

Grover H. Powell Sr. (91) died January 9, 2024. He was born in Columbus, OH on April 2, 1932 to William and Clara (McKenzie) Powell.  He is survived by his daughter, Darla Penix and his grandchildren, Dawn Clark, Heath Clark, Kyle Powell and Karson Abrams and his great grandchildren, Nolan Powell, Owen Powell, Brandon Clark, Kaitlin Clark and Cody Clark.  Grover was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Grover Powell Jr., Bryan Powell and Sabra Powell-Abrams.

Grover served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Sergeant First Class.  He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.  He was a member of The Chosin Few.  After his military service, he spent a career at the Ohio Penitentiary earning the rank of Major.

The family will welcome friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM for a Graveside Service with honors at the Pleasant Cemetery 14220 Era Rd in Mt. Sterling, OH.
