Harold Furniss, age 88 of Mt. Sterling died Sunday, June 1, 2014 in Arbors at London. He was born August 10, 1925 in Pickaway County, Ohio. He was the son of the late Francis and Ethel (Long) Furniss.
Harold was a graduate of Monroe High School; member of Five Points United Methodist Church; Star and State Grange; served on various agricultural committees; American Legion Post #417, Mt. Sterling; served in Patton’s Third Army during World War II. Harold’s true passion was farming and his partnership of Furn-Don Farms.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Zelma Furniss; sister Mildred (Gene R.) Donohoe; nephews Rob (Diana) Donohoe and Roger Donohoe; Zelma’s children; Jim, Janet, Mary, Pam, John, and Cathy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. The interment will follow in Darbyville Cemetery with the Circleville Amvets Post #2256 performing a military service for the World War II veteran. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m.
