Irene Drummond

Irene Conley Drummond, of Mt. Sterling, OH, passed away peacefully at her home on March 10, 2012 after a brief illness with her loving husband, Curt by her bedside. She was born January 1, 1927 in Oil Springs, KY, to Raleigh and Dewie Rose Bayes Conley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Al Morrow; brother, D.J. Conley; sister, Emogene Conley Spires Taylor; brothers-in-law, Eddie Spires, Charles Taylor, and Gene Drummond; and father and mother-in-law, Miley and Hazel Drummond. She is survived by loving husband of 22 years, Curt Drummond; sisters-in-law, Winifred Conley, Mary Lou Downy, Carol (Don) Kowalski, and Patsy Drummond; brother-in-law, John (Rosemary) Drummond; nephews, Darvin (Cindy) Conley, Karl (Brenda) Spires, Nathan (Eileen) Drummond, Jay (Migon) Drummond; nieces, Darlene (Gary) Richardson, Karen Spires, Lisa (Matt) Hamer, Kim (Bobby) Cornwell, Angie Engle; niece and caregiver in Irene’s time of illness, Jonda Nance; special great nieces, Shauna (Bill) Leonard and their son, Archer, Shelly (William) Galonski and their daughter, Taylor, Deirdre Conley and Margo Conley. She was a graduate of Darby Township High School, Class of “45”. Irene was secretary for Ivan Hill Grain Company in Derby, OH and manager of Ohio Federal Bank-Northern Lights-Linden offices. Irene was a very caring and lovely lady. She lived life to the fullest. Among her interests were reading, dancing, golf, tennis, swimming, and traveling. She also loved the outdoors and her three German Shepherds. Irene had a wonderful talent for making their home in such a warm and welcoming way. Irene was truly the love of Curt’s life. She will be sadly missed by Curt, all her family and close friends. Visitation will be held at PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME 331 W. Main St. Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 11 AM with Morris Bayes officiating. Burial in Muhlenberg Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or the charity of one’s choice.
