James O. Clark

James Orville Clark (85) passed away in Johnstown, OH on October 4, 2024. He was born in Fayette County on March 31, 1939, to Orville and Lillian (Ford) Clark. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sharon E. (Bullock) Clark. 

Jim is survived by his children, Jimmy Clark, Joe & (Sharon Clark) Ward, Todd & Cathy Clark; his sister, Lavonne Melvin; his grandchildren, Shanna Cartmell, Ryan (Jessica) Cartmell, Joseph (Amanda) Ward, Emily (Erik) Schaas, Shawn (Jen) Clark and Kandi (Anthony) Cicatko. He was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He served in the US Army. Worked in the fertilizer business, Helped his father & uncle in building houses at the Clark Lakes community. Worked for the Railroad in operating heavy equipment & taking equipment and supplies where needed to repair railroads. But, the career of trucking was his favorite, He worked for the Roadway Trucking Co., where he earned the Million Mile Club award and other awards for safe and efficient driving. 

Jim also loved going to auctions and watching television, especially old westerns. 

He also enjoyed riding his golf cart around the Clark Lakes community and talking to the neighbors. While doing all these things, you would often find a Diet Coke in his hand. Also, he just might find a treasure along the road and bring it home. He was a “Picker.” Though very direct in his communication, he never knew a stranger and loved his community. He’ll always be remembered as a great helper and an enjoyable gift to all who knew him. 

The family will receive friends for Visitation on WEDNESDAY, October 9th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH, 43143. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at the Funeral Home on THURSDAY, October 10th at 11:00 am. Jim will be laid to rest at Fox Cemetery in Jackson Twp, OH with military honors. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Jim’s name to your Local Hospice or Madison Mills Church.
