James Keith Dotson (Jimmy), age 75, left this world on Monday, November 2, 2020, due to complications of the COVID-19 virus. Jimmy was a resident of the Mt Sterling area for over 56 years. Jimmy was born on February 24, 1945, to McKinley Dotson and Flora Estep-Dotson in Freeburn, Kentucky. Jimmy retired from Asarco Incorporated as the General Manager in 1995. He enjoyed many hours of rabbit and coon hunting; camping; cornhole, horseshoes, working his food trailers (Dotson's Concessions and JD Food Express) to serve our communities; and above all, spending time with family and friends that will dearly miss him. Jimmy met the love of his life, his princess, in 1963 and took her as his wife on April 4, 1964. For the last 56 years of marriage, his family was his life. They always came first, there was absolutely nothing that he wouldn't do for them. He was known in the community and by loved ones as a strong, kind, loving, stubborn, and trickster of a man. He kept us all on our toes with the tricks he would play and jokes that will always be remembered. James K. Dotson was preceded in death by his father and mother, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. James K. Dotson is survived by his wife, Stella Jean Kemper-Dotson; sons James Jeffrey, Gregory Dale and David Gregory; daughters Amanda Jo (Mike) Hampton and Sara Nicole; grandchildren Danielle, Zachary, Megan, Meadow, Trenton, Gabrielle, Calib (K-Pop), Trinity and Emma; great-grandsons Draven, Keegan, Keaton, Joshua, and Arian; and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. MAIN STREET, MOUNT STERLING, OH, 43143. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio.
To our Dad:
I thought of you today,
But that is nothing new
I thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow, too.
I think of you in silence
And make no outward show.
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know.
Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day.
It's the heartache of losing you
That will never go away.
