Janet Stires

Janet Stires, age 87, of Mt. Sterling, passed away September 3, 2021. Born October 15, 1933 in Scioto County, Ohio. Married to Eldon E Stires for 61 years. Attended Five Points High School Class of 1953; where she played softball and pitched for a women’s league in Mt. Sterling in the mid 1960’s. Member of the Kiousville Community Club and was a Pythian Sister, inducted in 1970. Preceded in death by parents Carlan David and Mamie Mayetta (Joseph) Martin, husband Eldon 2014, sister Martha 2018 and brother Lloyd Martin 1975. Survived by children Janet Lane (Walter H) Freeman, Terry (Kim) Stires, Donna (Bruce) Samons and Tim (Dee) Stires, grandchildren, DeAnn M. DuBois, Michael Stires, Amanda Stires Wiseman, Tara Stires, Kristen Stires, Joseph Samons, Wesley Samons, David Stires, Ashley Stires Smudz and Cheyenne Stires, great grandchildren, Alex, Dane, Chandler, Breelyn, Brooklyn, Aurora, Ryder, Lynen, Miles, Wesley, Darius, Hannah, Hailee, Autumn and Peyton. Family will receive friends Thursday 5-7 pm at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main St., Mt. Sterling, OH 43143; where funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday. Interment Waterloo Cemetery.
