Jim L. Gossard

Jimmy Gossard, age 88, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Mount Carmel Grove City. Born January 4, 1934, in Madison County, OH, to the late Loren and Marguerite “Maggie” Gossard. Jim served our country as a member of the United States Army, a firefighter, and dedicated law enforcement officer for 26 years in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. He retired in 1989 as Mount Sterling Chief of Police. Jim was a long-time member of Mt. Sterling Lodge #269, F&AM.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister and brothers, Jean Turvey, Jay Gossard and Rod Gossard, his first wife, Opal Gossard (Grabill), and second wife, Nancy Gossard (Justice), son, Danny Gossard and son-in-law, Charles Carlisle. Jim is survived by his daughters, Donna (Scott) Day, Debbie Carlisle, son Duane (Mary) Gossard, daughter-in-law Tina Gossard, grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) McDowell, Michelle Day, Ashley Day, Jason Gossard, David (Pam) Baughn and great-grandchildren, Phillip and Emma McDowell, sister-in-law Helen Shafer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on TUESDAY at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, Ohio 43143. The funeral service will be held 11:00a.m. on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2022 with burial to follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt.
