Even after retiring from the State of Ohio 21 years ago, his work never stopped. You could always find him out and about. He loved to talk, to the point where it was necessary to hide air tags in his car to track him down if he stayed too long. John never met a stranger, and loved his community. Even after moving from his home of 45 years, he still returned there every morning and evening to feed his “livestock” which included the squirrels in the trees up and down the street. There was always a supply of peanuts and dog treats in his car that never ran out, just in case. Our father was a master carpenter,
who could turn any piece of wood into a thing of beauty, and many friends and family members have his creations to cherish. He was truly the “go to” guy if you were building, creating or just repairing something.
To people reading his obituary in the Community who may not have known his name, he was the happy guy who dropped off groceries, toys, and socks in the winter to kids he felt just needed something extra. He was also the gray haired man you may have seen buying his favorite thing – scratch off lottery
tickets. We’re so very proud of his positive and generous nature, and couldn’t have asked for a better man to call dad and papa.
