Kent Stone, 83, of Orient, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the CareCore at Westmoreland facility in Chillicothe, Ohio, following a long illness. He was born October 4, 1941, in Carretta, WV. He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Stone and Sadie Vanover Stone. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Columbus City Schools where he was employed as a maintenance carpenter. Kent was a quiet man who loved to be in his workshop. Being idle was not in his nature. He enjoyed staying home and spending time with his family. He was funny and generous and will be truly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Helen, Hollean, and Marie and brothers Jim, Champ, Nile, JC, Bill, Bob, Jeff JR., and Larry. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carol Jean Graves Stone; children, Matthew Stone and wife Wendy of Logan, OH, and Beth Stone Goodwin of Orient, OH.
As per Kent’s wishes, his immediate family held a private viewing. A Celebration of life is being planned for this upcoming summer with family and friends in his beloved West Virginia. The family would like to encourage you to participate in your local Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in Kent’s honor.
