Larry “Ed” Hix, 84 of Naples, FL quietly passed away on January 27, 2024.
Ed spent the majority of his life in Mount Sterling, Ohio. He served in the US Army after high school and was a member of the American Legion, Elks and Masons. After working for the State of Ohio, he started his own business. Ed’s biggest passion in life in addition to his family was music. His band “Ed Hix and the Townsman” performed at various events and establishments. He also performed solo later on in life. He was a member of the Oakhurst Country Club and enjoyed golf where he met his partner Midge in 1987. After retiring in 2004, Ed and Midge spent time living in both Ohio and Florida, enjoying their large blended family and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with many friends. Ed loved his community and spent time volunteering at local events, especially the fish fry. Ed was preceded in death by his son (Rex), his parents (Curtis and Margaret) and siblings (Jack, Pete and Marilyn Sue). Ed is survived by his partner, Midge, children Beth, Susan, Kimberly, Maggie and Andrew, his grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Jacqueline, Alexandra, Michael, Bryan, Clint, Schylar, Slade and Ava his great grandchildren Kevin, Marcus, Jayden, Journi, Kayzli, Jagger, Piper, Owen, Ronin, Nikko, Kai, Madison and Miles along with Scotty and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St. in Mount Sterling, Ohio on Sunday, February 18. Visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM and service at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a charitable contribution can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
