Margie E. Butz

Margie Evelyn Butz, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away on June 21, 2023. She was born October 12, 1943, in Lafayette (Madison County, Ohio), the daughter of Josephine and Raymond Peters. 

Margie married her true love, Gary R. Butz on November 16, 1968, and celebrated their love for 54 wonderful years. Margie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved traveling, and gardening, and she enjoyed her career as a school cook for Madison Plains Schools. 

She is survived by her husband and daughter, Laura (Rick) Brown, and step-children, Tim (Marcie) Butz, Rhonda (Roy) Mack, and Shawn (Cris) Butz. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nathan Butz, Alex (Amber) Mack, Gary (Sasha) Mack, Annabel (Brian) Lawler, Evan Butz, Emma Butz, and Chase Brown; four great-grandchildren: Aaron Mack, Asher Mack, Olivia Mack, and Aria Mack; her siblings: Nancy Doty, Norman (Beverly) Peters, and Beverly (Robert J.) Turvy; her brother-in-law Darryl Butz; and many other cherished relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles and his wife June Peters, brother-in-law, Norman Doty, niece Amy Peters Jason, and sister-in-law Lola Butz.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling on June 29, 2023, and officiated by Rev. Joshua Andrews. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 and will be followed by interment at Pleasant Cemetery.
