Maxine L. Howland (97) passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. Maxine was born in Franklin County, OH on November 17, 1925 to George and Florence (Rowland) Gardner.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Linda) Wilson, Teri (Mike) Delong, Gary (Brenda) Howland and stepdaughter Patricia Howland. She was also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Glen Wilson and Roger “Pat” Howland; her stepson, John Howland; her brothers, Paul, Richard and Pearl Gardner; and her sister, Irene Pennington.
Maxine worked for a while at the Joyce Shoe Factory in Columbus, OH, but she was primarily a treasured homemaker. Her hobbies included crocheting, flowers, puzzle books and grandchildren. She was very loving and active with her family. That love extended to anyone who needed help. She was always there to lend a hand or word any way she could. She will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held for Maxine at Porter Tidd Funeral Home, 331 West Main St. in Mt Sterling, OH on Friday, October 20th. Friends are invited to a visitation at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Gardner officiating. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Immediately following, Maxine will be laid to rest at the South Solon Cemetery in Stokes Township.
