Robert Dale Hanrahan, 80 of Orient, formerly of Grove City, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Carolyn’s Cottage in Grove City. Retired after 35 years of service with Columbia Gas. Worked at Ohio Auto Auction and his last years as Darby Township’s Zoning Officer. Robert was a devoted horseman, farrier, and friend to anyone who met him. Known for his prowess on the dance floor and way with “the ladies”. Raced and operated at Beulah Park (Grove City), River Downs (Cincinnati), and Thistledown (Cleveland). Bob was remembered in the Southend as being named after Ernest Dale McCann & Robert Wortman after life saving blood transfusions they gave to Bob’s mother. Both men were killed in action during WWII in North Africa.
Survived by wife Patricia (McClure) Hanrahan of Orient, and sons, Keith Allen Hanrahan of Grove City, and Robert Dale Hanrahan II of Winter Haven, FL; also, brother Charles William Hanrahan of Louisville, KY. Preceded in death by mother Frances Lucille Gleich, and step-father William Gleich, father Francis (Red) Hanrahan, brother Michael (Donna) of Canal Winchester, and best friend Jerry Balo of Madison County.
Visitation will be held TUESDAY, September 17, 2024, from 4-8pm, at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. MAIN STREET, MT. STERLING, OH, 43143. Funeral Service will be Held at the Funeral Home on WEDNESDAY, September 18, at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, OH.
