Robert E. Humphrey 73, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at his home.
He was born April 25th, 1938 in Richmond, Indiana.
He worked at the National Glove Inc. in Mount Sterling, Ohio for 31 years and farmed part-time. He was retired from Stanley Electric of London, Ohio after 21 years of service.
He was an active member of the Mount Sterling First Church of the Nazarene. He loved Jesus and wasn’t ashamed to show it in the worship service. He loved Country and Southern Gospel music.
His family was very important to him and he always made sure they were cared for. He was an active participant in the Sharegiver and Caregiver Ministries that he deeply believed in to make a difference in the community.
Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Humphrey, his siblings, Charles Humphrey, Richard Humphrey, Dorothy (Humphrey) Fisher, and Lucille Humphrey.
Survived by Betty J. Humphrey, his loving wife of over 54 years of marriage. Daughters Cristina (Humphrey) (Riffle) Ward, (Bob) of Mt. Sterling, OH. and Lisa (Humphrey) Keener, (Mike) of Centerburg, OH.; grandchildren Stephanie (Riffle) Mund of Mt. Sterling, OH., David Riffle of London, OH., Stacy (Riffle) Daniels of Mt. Sterling, OH., Sara Keener, Tara Keener, and Holly Keener, all of Centerburg, Ohio.; great-grandchildren Ella Mund, Nolan Daniels, and Keegan Riffle.; sisters Louise (Humphrey) Hill of Tennessee, Delores (Humphrey)Dawes of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Mary McHenry of Springfield, Ohio; brother William D. (Melinda) Humphrey of South Carolina, and many, many nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by his brother-in-Christ and dear friend, Ed Mason.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 4 – 8 pm at the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene at 226 Market St., where the funeral will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 am. Pastor Ron Reynolds and Pastor Dortha Ross officiating with burial following in Pleasant Cemetery.
