Robert Boyd Webber 81 of Mt. Sterling, Ohio passed away Nov. 9, 2011. Bob was born on Feb. 15, 1930 to Robert G. and Kathryn Wilson Webber. He was also preceded in death by his half sister Elizabeth Webber Yeager.
He graduated from Mt. Sterling High School in 1948. He attended Capital University and Ohio University. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Following his military service he returned to Mt. Sterling where he worked at the Sterling State Bank/Bank One for 42 years. He served as President for 28 years, retiring in 1995.
Bob was very active in the Mt. Sterling community. He was a member of the Mt. Sterling Village council in 1958 and 1959. He was President of the Mt. Sterling Chamber of Commerce and Mt. Sterling Rotary Club. He also served on the Mt. Sterling Library board for 33 years.
He was a member of The United Church in Mt. Sterling where he served on the board and as Moderator multiple terms. Bob was a member of the Mt. Sterling Masonic Lodge #269 F & AM, Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He served on the Madison County Hospital and Mt. Sterling Museum Boards. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #417, OSU Presidents Club, OSU Buckeye Club and the London Country Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Mary Lou (Junk) Webber, his son David Boyd Webber (Cindy Hickey Webber) and daughter Catherine Webber Steinhoff (Wayne Edward Steinhoff). Also grandchildren Webber Ericson Steinhoff, Boyd Robert Steinhoff, Elizabeth Kathryn Steinhoff, Laura Anne Webber and Matthew David Webber. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Lou Junk, sister-in-law Jane Junk Karnes and his God Child Bethany Morris Buckner. He had many nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors and a host of very dear friends.
A Funeral service will be held at The United Church 30 E. Columbus Street, Mt. Sterling, OH. 43143 on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:30 am. Rev. Steve Brown and Rev. Dan Shipley officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME in Mt. Sterling on Sunday, Nov. 13th between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Family suggest memorial contributions be directed to The United Church or the Mt. Sterling Museum.
