Virginia Lee Liff (81) passed away in her home on September 27, 2022. She was born December 11, 1940 in Jackson, OH to William Mostyn “Tony” and Mary L. (Wickline) Garrett. She is survived by her sons Todd (Colleen) Liff and Toby (Carri) Liff; her grandchildren Kaeleen (Nathan), Zachary, Heather (Adam), Kava (Sam), Walker (Haven) and Garrett; her great grandchildren Allison, Maddie, Michael, Anthony, Caden and Brayleigh; her siblings Jim (Trish) Garrett and Dave (Marcia) Garrett along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Liff and her parents.
Virginia was a graduate of Darby Twp. High School in Derby, OH. She attended Otterbein College, but then went on to Ohio State University earning her bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science. She was the first female ever to earn this degree. She used her education working for COBA/Select Sires and she worked in advertising for the American Jersey Cattle Club. She also spent some years serving as a retail clerk, but one of her favorite jobs was being a “farm wife” and homemaker. She was a member of the Five Points United Methodist Church. Virginia was a faithful Ohio State “Buckeye” fan, particularly with football and basketball. She brought her enthusiasm into her family also, cheering on and recording the accolades of her sons’ high school football seasons. She also loved gardening and truly couldn’t pass up a good clearance sale or Black Friday shopping. Her memories are wonderful and she will be missed deeply.
